| About Amy I first started working with glass 12 years ago and have ever since been fascinated by this curious and mysterious material and it's relation to light.
As a keen photographer I am inspired by the exquisite variety of colours and forms in the natural world. The organic and tactile nature of glass makes it the ideal medium for capturing this depth of light and tone. Initially I spent time in my native Scotland developing ideas and gaining inspiration from the landscape. This experimental period led onto a year at Edinburgh College of Art studying with Ray Flavell, where I had the opportunity to realise my ideas and develop my style and skills.
I combined techniques encompassing both hot glass and kiln working. The mixing of the two glass disciplines allows me the freedom to create effects not possible in one area alone. My pieces are built up stage by stage, through several different firings before being silverworked.
All my jewellery is made in 24% lead crystal. I aim to create miniature paintings in glass by combining different colours, metals, sandblasting and silverworking techniques.
I have recently relocated with Simon to Dunbar on the Scottish East Lothian coast where we are in the process of opening a new gallery, The Found Gallery, which will showcase our work alongside our pick of some of the best craftspeople in the UK. It's a new exciting venture for us and the realization of a long held dream. If you are in the area please pop in for a chat and browse, we'd love to see you.
| The Team I am lucky to have a great team of people that have supported my business over the years, enabling it to be the successful jewellery company it is today. If you visit the stall in the Apple Market Covent Garden you will either meet Rachel, Emily or Liz, but from time to time Simon or Amy will be manning the stall to cover holidays.
